7 Gypsies Postale Library Drawer

I simply want to say that i LOVE library drawers when they art artfully decorated and full of beautiful goodies.

I planned to buy this file drawer, but I have too much ephemera to fill just one.  I opted instead for a vintage metal card file. See my mess below!  I have started decorating the dividers.  A few below.  Such fun! Gets your creative juices flowing too!
Here's the Ranjini Malhotra drawer.

Some of my mess. Before I bought my vintage file drawers I bought these file boxes at Office Max.

Magazine Mirror

I've had a pretty busy day already today! Planted lettuce and strawberry started, planted seeds in my seed greenhouse, and potted all my fuchsia starts!  Now I'm nursing my knee.

I mentioned before that I will be leading a workshop at my friend Jen's shop, Curiosities Vintage, next weekend.  We will be creating a Magazine Mirror.

Today I'm going to watch old movies and pre-roll the papers so that lengthy process will be out of the way.

I'm using ikea Malma mirror. It looks like they only come painted now, mine are unfinished pine. The painted ones might work better anyway!

I will post pics in a few days after I get it done!

Have a relaxing Sunday!!

Update: Here is the mirror I made earlier this week. I did it with scrapbook paper. We had the workshop today and I started another with magazines. I will finish and post it later this week.

Gesso, My new Favorite Thing

Here's how I made my new favorite thing!!

I had SO MUCH FUN doing this project. It's the most fun I've had in a very long time. I did it by following  Arlene, a Graphic45 design team member. The tutorial is featured on here on You Tube.. You can do it too!

I gathered up some metal doo dads and flowers.

I used printed key tissue paper as my base.

I added some glass circles I found at Scrap,

and I fussy cut a kitty from a piece of wrapping paper.

Here are some close ups of the finished product:

I love how all of the metal elements show up. I lightly spayed every thing with Ranger Ink - Perfect Pearls Mist - 2 Ounce Bottle - Heirloom Gold. This is not what she recommended, but I like the way it looks.

I also rubbed Metallic Rub-Ons on the tops of the elements to give a tiny bit of a color pop.

I gave him to my daughter for her birthday, and I'm very glad she loves him too!
Have fun, and Craft On!!

Tim Holtz has similar metal items, which you can find at collage, and other craft stores, but it's also fun to use items from broken clocks.
